I am Pablo and a few months ago I got the great opportunity to join the marketing and communications department at intraHouse via Proexca. I’ve got a Master’s Degree in International Trade with some previous experience gained in the West African market. After an induction period at the Spanish office in Las Palmas I am now based in Silicon Valley, working on projects linked to this market, which is very different from any other I know.

Before coming here I’d heard lots about Silicon Valley, but nothing truly prepares you for the experience and it’s only by experiencing the place that you understand what people mean when they talk about this special environment.

I’ve been here for little more than a month dividing my time between Nordic Innovation House and Escalon Services, and already I’m very aware that anything can happen in Silicon Valley. It’s as disruptive and innovative as you can get. Think Uber and Airbnb, two examples of Silicon Valley startups that became billion dollar companies.

And these are just the tip of the iceberg. A number of unicorns are based in the San Francisco Bay Area. And it’s no wonder with the investment and talent the Valley attracts.

Although it’s fast paced and very competitive, it’s also a culture of paying it forward and helping others. Most people ask me what I’m doing in Silicon Valley, even in a queue at a supermarket, in case they can connect me to someone.

I love the collaborative environment where a lot of knowledge sharing happens. It’s a great place to learn and grow on many levels, professionally and personally. Listening to other people’s stories is a great part of that learning. It’s priceless.

As part of my role here I’m out and about meeting lots of different people and attending many events. No matter where I go here I notice a common aim, to use technology to provide innovative solutions to society’s problems, making the world a better place.

Some of the new technology we’re launching soon at intraHouse certainly has this philosophy at its core, as does some of the technology we’re creating for others, and I’m looking forward to being able to tell everyone about it soon.

One project I particularly like is all about connecting communities online for offline activities. This app really does solve some of society’s issues regarding isolation among the older generation, providing service in your local community and sharing resources. It’s going to be popular, I know.

To find out more about what we’re working on feel free to get in touch.

Special thanks to Nordic Innovation House and Escalon Services.
