On Friday intraHouse bade a fond farewell to 22 BEST students from 14 European countries as they ended their BEST Las Palmas Winter Course – ShApping Your Odds, Take Your Business to the Clouds – of which intraHouse was a main sponsor supported by others including Fred Olsen ExpressSPEGC and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.

The two-week program, all conducted in English, was designed to equip some of Europe’s top tech talent with the tools they need to create a start up and develop a mobile app using intraHouse’s new technology OneMobileTool, which makes iOS and Android mobile app development and management swift, simple and fun. OMT is already in use by companies large and small including global giant Cisco and was used to create new travel app city.live and the BEST Las Palmas Winter Course app, amongst others.

The course opened with great interest from the media, with four TV news programmes turning up to find out more about the BEST Las Palmas course and conduct interviews with some of the students, and members of BEST Las Palmas and intraHouse. Coverage followed on Antenta3Television Canaria and TVE.

The students worked in groups of four and five to create a business idea and associated app related to tourism on the Canary Islands, but with the potential to scale and internationalise.

As part of the program the students received instruction from the intraHouse team on creating a business plan and business model, monetization, marketing and PR and presenting and pitching, with local and international entrepreneurs sharing their stories and top tips including Juan Miguel de León Vera from FlatGuest and award-winning global entrepreneur, public speaker, author and advisor to leaders, Rahfeal Gordon, who joined via Skype.

The program also included a daily afternoon excursion giving the students plenty of opportunity to discover the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife and to fully understand the opportunities that the islands offer to entrepreneurs and digital nomads.

On the last day the groups presented to a crowded CDTIC their business ideas and apps to everyone with a panel consisting of members of the intraHouse team and SPECG who gave feedback. The students came up with some great ideas and presentations and some of the apps were even ready to try.

intraHouse would like to congratulate all the students on their efforts and achievements. We were impressed with your ideas and work, your level of language and the way you worked as teams.

We would also like to congratulate BEST Las Palmas for the great organisation of the event and thank you for choosing intraHouse as a main sponsor.

Thanks also go to all other sponsors and the media for their support and encouragement of such initiatives that promote the use of technology for tourism on the islands as well as the personal development of young Europeans.

We wish the students and BEST Las Palmas volunteers all the best and we look forward to seeing your future apps created with OneMobileTool.
